Caroline Moore makes art.

I have a BS in Graphic Design, and an MFA in Film and Digital Technology. I have also been working as a photographer since 2007, and have recently built my own studio. While at university, I took many studio courses, including drawing, oil painting, ceramics, printmaking, and film photography, as well as graduate courses in flash animation and video production.

Traditional Illustration

Mona Lisa Project

We had this idea for a mural in my parents’ home. I took an image of the Mona Lisa, converted it to grayscale, and then ran the mosaic filter in Photoshop to create 5,280 blocks. I pulled the black values from each block, and entered that into an Excel spreadsheet, which we used to transfer the mural onto the wall. By mixing two shades of interior house paint, we effectively created a 5’ wide paint by numbers.

I wrote a conference talk that turned into a book. I figured that I would also illustrate the cover, and do all of the interior graphics and chapter titles. The t-shirt was based on the cover illustration, and sold to help cover the costs of printing.

Confessional 2006

As part of our Emerging Media course with Nathan Martin, we created this confessional, based on the idea of bathroom graffiti being confessional in nature. We collected photos, and affixed them to the outside of the piece, which later showed in the Media Tonic exhibition.
